Yorkshire Day – Top Romantic Spots From a Wedding Celebrant
Posted: 1st August 2025

As an independent Celebrant based in Yorkshire, it feels only right to revel in our county’s very own day. Yes, the 1st August is rightfully marked on the calendar as Yorkshire Day, so whilst neighbours hang their Yorkshire Rose bunting and fly their flags, I’m going to celebrate by sharing my favourite romantic spots across our wonderful county.
Whether you’re newly engaged, long-time lovebirds, or just looking for a special day out, Yorkshire offers countless romantic backdrops. Here are a few spots I love to help you plan the perfect date or maybe even inspire your next big moment.
📍Beamsley Beacon from Addingham
Addingham, LS29 0LY
It feels right to start with one from my doorstep. Beamsley Beacon is a peaceful yet rugged walk through moorland with sweeping views over Wharfedale as you climb. At the top, it’s perfect to sit, chat and revel in Yorkshire’s splendour at height. Once you’re back down, Addingham’s many pubs await with tasty food and cold pints.
📍Whitelock’s Ale House, Leeds
Turk’s Head Yard, Leeds, LS1 6HB
Tucked away down a narrow alley, Whitelock’s is one of Leeds’ oldest pubs. It’s full of charm, chatter and cosy corners. My husband and I came here on our first date, and I’m sure many other love stories have begun in this spot.
📍Burnsall River Walk
Burnsall Village Green, BD23 6BS
This picturesque riverside route offers beauty in every direction. The sound of the water, the quaint village, and the rolling hills make it a truly romantic escape. Take a picnic riverside and don’t miss a Burnsall Ice Cream on the village green.
📍Pool Bridge Farm
Wheldrake Lane, York, YO19 4SQ
Wild swimming haven, Pool Bridge Farm, has four stunning lakes, each offering something unique and blissful. For even more rejuvenation, book a slot in their wood-fired sauna and go from hot to cold in a mood boosting flash.
📍Leeds to Saltaire Canal Walk
Granary Wharf, LS1 4GH – Salts Mill, BD18 3HU
I have a soft spot for the Leeds to Liverpool canal, so it had to make the list somehow. Setting off from Leeds, follow the towpath, passing locks, wildlife and heritage mills. It’s about 13 miles, so you’ll be pleased to pass by Saltaire Brewery as you arrive in Saltaire.
📍Surprise View, Otley Chevin
East Chevin Road, Otley, LS21 3DD
Climb up through the Chevin’s moody yet beautiful woodland until you emerge from the trees to breathtaking vistas across Lower Wharfedale. Perfect for a quiet moment, looking out as far as the eye can see. The quiet moment is always interrupted by overhead planes, lowering to land, but it makes the whole experience feel even more epic.
📍Holmfirth Vineyard
Woodhouse Lane, Holmbridge, HD9 2QR
Prepare to be completely lost for words with the views from Holmfirth Vineyard. In fact, anywhere around Holmfirth leaves me completely stunned by the scenery. Cheers to good company and home grown, Yorkshire produced wine. Iechyd da!

In my role as a Celebrant, I’m lucky enough to travel all across this incredible county, getting a window into people’s worlds, revelling in their love stories, and hearing about those who mean the most to them.
Whether it’s a wedding, a naming ceremony, or a final farewell, I’m here to help you navigate those meaningful moments, with personality at the forefront and love at the core.
Happy Yorkshire Day to all who celebrate!
With love,
Your Celebrant,
